MONIKA RIETHMUELLER – visual artist – artiste peintre
Déclarations spontanées, instantanées. J’essaie d’évoquer une poésie visuelle, voulant inviter le spectateur à entrer dans mon monde, un monde sans point central, parfois léger comme une plume, puis lourd comme un morceau de plomb ; être séduit par ma langue, mes couleurs. Un monde animé avec une esthétique qui lui est propre, aux côtés rugueux et confrontant à la fois, délicat et presque tendre, caressant – au fond je pense que toutes mes œuvres sont des autoportraits !
Spontaneous statements, snapshots. I try to evoke visual poetry, wanting to invite the viewer to enter my world, a world without a central point of focus, weightless and light as a feather at times, then bulky as a lump of lead; to be seduced by my language, my colors. An animated world with its own personal aesthetic, with rough sides, raw and confronting at the same time, delicate and almost tender, caressing – basically I think that all my works are self-portraits!
Educated in Cologne, Germany, graduated at Gerrit Rietveld Academy (university of applied sciences for fine arts and design in Amsterdam, The Netherlands) in 1989.
Having worked for various international companies for the past 30 years, I now work as independent artist, dividing my time between studios in France and Germany.
